JYC Marina Welcomes Superyachts for Saudi F1 Weekend
SELA, the esteemed developer behind various lifestyle projects in Saudi Arabia, announced that JYC Marina played host to the first superyachts during the inaugural Saudi Arabia Formula 1 Grand Prix held from December 3rd to 5th, 2021, and famously won by British driver Lewis Hamilton. The race roared to life on the fast-paced F1 street circuit in Jeddah’s North Corniche. This race was unique as guests aboard yachts, including the 95-meter (312-foot) M/Y Pari, 85-meter (278-foot) Sunrays, 82-meter (269-foot) RoMEA, and over 40 other superyachts, could witness the exhilarating event from the marina, which is conveniently located just steps away from the track.
JYC Marina is a premier marina on the Red Sea coast, specifically designed to accommodate superyachts and mega yachts of up to 120 meters (394 feet) in a world-class environment. The opening event also offered visiting yachts and VIP F1 attendees a special preview of the upcoming Jeddah Yacht Club, which is scheduled to open around the time of the 2022 Saudi F1 Grand Prix season from March 25th to 27th, 2022.
Constructed in a remarkable six months, the complex is situated in northern Jeddah, a few kilometers from the new King Abdulaziz airport and the city center. It comprises JYC Marina, the Jeddah Yacht Club, and a collection of retail and F&B outlets on the marina Boardwalk around the basin. JYC Marina, capable of berthing over 100 yachts up to 120 meters, symbolizes the future of superyachting on the Red Sea coast of Saudi Arabia and marks the beginning of major yachting developments planned for the next decade, stretching from Neom in the North to Amaala and the Red Sea Project in the south, extending down to Jeddah and beyond.
Developed by SELA, JYC Marina ensures secure berthing with gated entry and essential amenities such as electricity, water, and fuel bunkering. The marina features an on-site helipad for the convenience of guests arriving or departing discreetly.
A noteworthy aspect is that JYC Marina is recognized by Saudi authorities as a port of entry into the Kingdom, providing customs clearance and immigration services to all vessels, including foreign-flagged superyachts. Additionally, the marina will offer repair and maintenance facilities within the precinct upon becoming fully operational by the end of March 2022.
Located strategically, JYC Marina is ready to host permanent and seasonal yachts arriving from the Mediterranean, the GCC, the Indian Ocean, Asia, and beyond.
The development of the Jeddah Yacht Club, completed in just six months, is a perfect complement to JYC Marina. The club features restaurants, a wellness center, business facilities, lounges, concierge services, and a variety of sailing and nautical activities. Its beach club, operated by the world-renowned Omnia Club, boasts an infinity pool with stunning views of the Red Sea.
SELA’s dedication to creating a world-class yachting destination on the Red Sea coast is evident through JYC Marina and the Jeddah Yacht Club, promising an exciting future for superyacht enthusiasts in Saudi Arabia.
